Shelley Torresan grew up in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, surrounded by regional produce and it was only a matter of time before she developed a love of wine. She started her winemaking career at Adelaide University and completed her Bachelor of Agricultural Science in 1996. Shelley has spent time in Frances’s Northern Rhone Valley and Sonoma Country, California making wine. However, South Australia is where her heart is and so she has made her home in McLaren Valley at the Yangarra Estate winery where she makes the RockBare wines.
Her focus is to produce bright-fruited wines that are distinctive to the region and variety. As a result, the wines are approachable, young, fresh and vibrant, and fit our lifestyle of food, wine and entertaining.
Peter Fraser is the consulting winemaker for RockBare, where he oversees the meticulous sourcing of grapes, the “when” of picking, the style to be produced and the final blending decisions. He has been the winemaker and driving force behind Yangarra Estate vineyard since its inception in 2001.
He started his winemaking career at the University of Adelaide in 1992, with his first vintage in 1995. He’s made wine in the Barossa, Spain, New Zealand and California, but McLaren Vale will always be home. Peter is an avid wine show judge, and was a recent scholar of the 2016 Len Evans Tutorial. During this time he has received numerous awards, his most proud to date was James Halliday’s Wine Companion 2016 Winemaker of the year.
